Deciding to race a car is very expensive and risky at the same time. There are lots of things to consider when you decide to race a car. First of course is your car, you cannot just race with an ordinary car. Your car has to be modified and upgraded in order to keep up or even have a chance against a real race car.

A manual transmission car can be better than an automatic transmission car in terms of performance. Using a manual transmission car however requires you to be a skilled driver because timing when shifting is very important. Most race cars reach 60 MPH on the second gear alone.

Next you should at least be an experienced driver to be able to compete. A regular car is completely different from a race car and if you’re not experienced enough you may damage your engine.

Before deciding to race you should know the kinds of car racing you might be participating in. You have the open seat racing, rally racing, touring car, stock car racing, and drag racing. The more popular events of racing are Drag racing, Formula 1 racing, Nascar racing and Street racing. Other kinds of racing include cart racing and drifting, which is slowly gaining more and more attention.

It is always better to car race on a track. Public roads are much too dangerous because of ongoing traffic and car racing on public roads is illegal. Look for a race track because they are made and built for speed and safety. Race tracks also have better traction for your tires.

Consider attending a driver's education event for car racing. You should not enter a race track if you haven’t gone to a racing school. Race tracks have rules and aside from the rules racing schools teach you a great deal about safety. Check the internet for racing schools.

Always perform a safety check on your car. Check the oil, tire pressure, tire tread, brake fluid, steering fluids and breaks. When entering a race event get to know the rules from the event organizers. Every event has a different set of rules.

Get racing gear protect you from head to toe. You will need a helmet to protect your head from crashes, an overall suit, hand gloves to avoid blisters, and comfortable driving shoes. If your racing car looks good you should look good as well.

Driving really fast can be really addictive but it is nothing compared to racing on a race track. It’s a lot more fun and exciting and it’s even better if you win the race. If speed runs through your veins then there’s no time to waist go out and race.
