How to Polish a Car

All shiny and polished.

It doesn’t take much to polish a car all you need to have is time, water, car shampoo, a sponge, some cloth and of course car polish. It is also best to have a compressor to pressurize the spray of water on to the car.

Wash the car

To avoid swirling marks when it comes to polishing your car it is best that you wash the car before starting to get it clean and ready. When washing your car make sure that no dirt or dust is left. For best results use a compressor in pressurizing water spray. Make sure also that you are washing your car in the shade so you have minimal to no spotting.

Next is the application of car shampoo using a sponge after spraying the cars’ body with water, this will remove dust film and other particles sticking on to the body of the car. After the car shampoo has been applied in the cars’ body hose down the car again to wash away the shampoo.

After that wipe the car dry with a cloth, for best results use cotton fabrics. Try to dry and wipe off any water spots you see on the car's surface.

Before you start polishing it is necessary to read label of the car polish carefully, plastic trim will be stained by some products; other car polishers must be applied within a precise range of temperature.

Polishing the car

Before application of the car polish would be best to divide your procedure in sections.

The first step is the application of a one inch circle of polish on to a dampened, hundred percent cotton cloth that is clean. Then wipe the polish over the body of the car in a motion that is circular; after which allow the polish to dry to a haze.

Then take a different clean dry cotton cloth and buff the polish. Start in one section and after finishing that particular section of the car proceed to the next section and repeat the process.

Polishing the car takes time but after the procedure it will make your car look good as new and make you feel better when using it. However you should take note that it is not good for you to polish your car frequently as polishers gradually remove the paint of your car.

Application of a car polisher is ideal in dry weather conditions and when doing this it must be noted that only a thin application of the polisher is needed. This procedure must not be a regular routine because as mentioned earlier car polisher tends to remove a small amount paint on the cars’ surface. So while we appreciate a car that glitters it is important to not polish it too frequently. Washing the car on a regular basis will maintain its glittering finish.
